Roseanne & Racism

The President doesn’t need to tell me not to be a racist, and I don’t want to live in a country where people have to be reminded constantly not to be racist.  This is not a teachable moment, because we’re not dumb kids. This is not a teachable moment because we are all not racists, nor do we often say racist things,

CNN is a bunch of babies;  News media has conditioned us not to have adult conversations with each other.  Every media outlet blamed the President for these grotesque remarks made by has-been celebrity comedienne Roseanne Barr against Valerie Jarrett. Neither directly nor indirectly is President Donald Trump responsible for Roseanne’s tweet.  She’s not ‘empowered’ by Trump’s election to feel safe to fire off an insulting tweet. She is her own person, and has been her own voice her whole life.

But CNN could not help themselves linking Roseanne and President Trump together in the same sentence.  While President Trump did not write the tweet, he did not come out and condemn the tweet. My question to you is: Does he have to? Really?

If you need a moral compass to guide you on what is right and wrong, then you need to do some serious self-reflection.  If you are an adult, or over the age of 16, you should be able to think and act for yourself because it really is the most important life skill you will use on a daily basis.

If you hear or read something racist, you should be able to recognize immorality on your own and shouldn’t be looking to someone else for an answer. If you have to ask for a second opinion, then, you are dumb (and might be racist).  Be responsible and take responsibility for your own thoughts and opinions!

The Roseanne tweet really frightened me; not for what she said because I knew it was racist.  The way the country reacted frightened me. Everyone on TV was desperate for the President to speak out and condemn her.  Good idea? Yeah, sure. Absolutely necessary? Absolutely not. Why?

Why do you need reassurance from the Executive Office that someone wrote a(nother) racist tweet on Twitter?  Have we sunk that low into the depths of co-dependence? Am I living in a country now that can’t think for themselves? That can’t go about their daily life without hearing from the President at every moment about every subject?

Or is it just because the tweet involved racism and Bugatchiprejudice?  That can be a valid point of view if you choose to use it. But let me ask you then, What else do you need guidance on from the President of the United States? Cholesterol intake? Stop smoking? Don’t eat that much without exercising regularly because you will soon develop Type II Diabetes?  Maybe you should cut down on the coffee while you’re at it. (Message sponsored by the President of the United States.) Give me a break here!

Star Wars AuthenticsWe have to look to someone else for our moral compass – not a president, not a politician, not a priest, not a person on TV – our own selves. Try it for once. Try and form an opinion and not worry about whether the President of the United States will back you up and coddle you with affirmation.  That’s what children need from their parents and family. That’s what dogs need from their owners.

We are not children here and I would rather not be treated like one, nor told that I am from the news media.  I can make up my own mind thankyouverymuch, and so I did, and have many times before. I don’t need to wake up everyday and tell anybody that I’m not a racist. I’d rather you just assume so and be on your way.

Racists who practice prejudice are ostracized from society. They lose their jobs, they lose friends, and they become reclusive bigots that don’t contribute anything to society. And we don’t need them, so, the rest of us are not really missing out.  I ask you: Do you need a racist bigot in your life? So, do you need someone to tell you that you don’t need a racist bigot in your life? Do you need a reminder?

If the answer is yes, then please leave the country.  Or at least stop talking to other people because no one wants to be bothered listening to ignorance and stupidity or answering your foolish questions.  Stop voting, too. Just get out of the way and let the rest of mankind go about our lives.
