Jun 29, 2017: Another White House Press Briefing, another circus show. Sarah Huckabee Sanders hosted today’s briefing, live on tv, (You’re welcome, CNN) and all hell broke loose on her about the President’s Tweet about MSNBC Newsanchor, Mika Brzezinski.

Do you think Sean Spicer and Sarah flip a coin or draw straws before these briefings to decide who has to go out and face the media? Being Press Secretary used to be a high profile job, now it must seem like a punishment. “You’re up today, Sean. Good luck, did you see the President’s Tweet yet?” “Oh no, please take my place. I’ll buy you a Mercedes.”

The gaggle of journalists kept calling the Tweet an “attack.” The story being the President viscously attacked a journalist with a mean Tweet. Sounds like high school, but that sounds insulting to most of the high schools in the Boston Archdiocese who practice much more politesse and decorum than anyone in the media today.

Pithy. Can’t be said that Ms. Brzezinski didn’t take the high road on this one. First she tweets back, starting an official Twitter War with the President of the United States. Second, she replies with a meme. How dumb.

While the rest of all the women in America take offense, Brzezinski happily retorts with a picture. Seems she wasn’t that upset to me – No offense taken? Looks like there’s still some spunk in the old gal after all, not wilting under the mighty weight and feeble grip of the Presidency. You go, girl.

All the Tweet really said was that Mika had a face-lift. Now if she wanted to keep the surgery a secret, well then that’s impolite for a gentleman to blab it to the whole world. But instead this was characterized as an attack. I didn’t know she had a facelift couldn’t this be seen as just an unwarranted PSA?

Don’t joke about this with CNNs Jake Tapper (Jaaaaake!) he described the Tweet as “Going after her looks.” Well, that was mean, Jake, I think she still looks pretty good. But go ahead, call her ugly on your show just because you haven’t had a bad facelift yet. We all can’t afford Joan Rivers’ doctor. (Oh, Boo yourself.)

An aside, If Jake Tapper stares coyly into the camera and says,”Really? Seriously?” to make a point he should be demoted to writing a stupid blog, not be on camera.

The Hydrogen bomb Tweet was widely criticized on both sides of the aisle. Curiously the blowback went like this: Never make fun of a woman’s looks. Never.

So, saying they are stupid is still in play? Chalk up a W for feminism then. (#Feminism.) That’s what I find offensive; the low level of reading comprehension in this country. No one said anything about her looks (except Jake), but Trump did call her “Low IQ.” Which is worse in terms of treating women with equality?

As the saying goes, “Drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.” (Sexist.) “Ugly and Smart,” and “Beautiful and Dumb” pretty much go hand in hand though. There’s another saying in our lexicon that has to do with hair color and being dumb – give Mika some credit for having corrective surgery on her face instead of just dying her hair brunette for $15. I see a lot of sleepless nights while she battled with that decision.
